Feedback

From The Asian Reporter, V17, #46 (November 13, 2007), page 7.

To the Editor:

Polo was criticized by Gordon Williams in the October 23, 2007 "Reader Responds." Myself, I enjoy reading Polo’s columns. I respond to his post-modern angst. His questions resonate as they examine the validity of our consumer-driven society.

I too have walked in Kelley Point Park and felt its living timeless presence, or perhaps it was just my imagination connecting with something more. I guess a civilization and its culture that existed here for at least eight thousand years means nothing in the face of some fellow named Kelley. Nothing seemed to exist until a European said it did, apparently. Has any record survived of the name used for this special place from the indigenous ancestors?

Polo: Thanks for speaking up and being yourself. I appreciate you and look forward to your columns.
